Overview
About Jodhpur
Jodhpur’s old city, painted in shades of globe-blue, spreads out beneath Mehrangarh Fort — one of India’s largest and best-preserved forts, rising 125 metres straight out of a rocky outcrop. It is Rajasthan’s strongest single fort experience, paired with Umaid Bhawan Palace, one of the last great palaces built in India before independence.
A day and a half to two days lets you properly cover Mehrangarh, Jaswant Thada, and the clock-tower market below.
- Mehrangarh Fort’s museum, ramparts and audio-guided walk
- Umaid Bhawan Palace, part still a royal residence, part heritage hotel, part museum
- Jaswant Thada, a white marble memorial known as the "Taj Mahal of Jodhpur"
- The blue-washed old city streets, best seen from the fort ramparts
- Sardar Market and the Ghanta Ghar clock tower for spices and textiles

Questions
Jodhpur: common questions
Yes — it is widely considered Rajasthan’s best-preserved and best-curated fort museum, and the audio guide included in the ticket adds real depth.
Jodhpur is built around a single dominant fort and a genuinely blue-painted old city, and feels smaller and more walkable than Jaipur, which is spread across a wider grid of palaces and bazaars.
