Set atop a hill, 5km west of Udaipur city, Sajjan Garh is also called the Monsoon Palace, for the fabulous views, it would provide of the monsoon clouds over Udaipur city. The hill, a small punctuation in the Aravalli mountains, and also known as Bansdara, dominates the verdant reaches of the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary. Commissioned in 1884 the palace was originally supposed to feature a nine-storied astronomical observatory. Regardless, the palace which also served as a hunting lodge is timeless in its grace and excellent location to this day. The Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary or Udaipur Biological Park lies the foothills of the Bandhara hills of the Aravalli Range.
