What you will experience

Experience the soul of Old Delhi with a walk in the historic lanes of Shahjehanabad. We will start with a brief history about the iconic Lal Quila, which was the residence of Mughal emperor Shahjehan, who built the Taj Mahal. After that we will briefly explore the Jain and Hindu religious architectures along the narrow lanes of this street market. This will be followed by a visit to a Sikh gurudwara to understand the basic tenets of Sikhism and the importance of the community kitchen to this faith

After a little sightseeing, we will start our culinary adventure with the famous snack called Aloo Tikki which is a shallow fried potato patty drenched in mint  and tamarind sauce, served by street vendors in Chandni Chowk; from the iconic centuries-old lane called Gali Paranthe Wal here we will dig into paranthas, which are deep-fried stuffed flat Indian bread, served with a spicy yogurt or a curried vegetable. We will then pop into a small, hectically active lane which spills over with shops selling accoutrements for Indian weddings. We the head out for the famous street lined with gold and silver jewellery. Jewellers have been showcasing their work here since the 17th-century street from the times of the Mughals. At an almost 150 year old eatery we will introduce you to the joys of a samosa, a savoury pastry stuffed with spicy potatoes; get the bite out with the Indian version of Pretzel, the jalebi which is steeped in a sweet syrup.

We will take a short tuk-tuk ride to Asia’s biggest spice market, Khari Baoli, with its huge variety of both local and exotic spices; we will then head for 24-hour flower market for a completely different experience. This will be followed up by a tea break.

We have another exciting line-up of stopovers where you will dive into a lip-smacking array of succulent kebabs, korma curry, butter chicken and luscious rice pudding in the historic lanes in and around Jama Masjid. From there, we will head to our last stop to indulge in different flavours of kulfi or the Indian version of ice-cream at over a century old Kulfi shop.
